# IoT Island > List the devices on your home network - device, kind, the network it is on now, what it needs to reach - and rate your router's settings. See a network map of today's networks with the ones that mix trusted devices and smart devices flagged, the trusted / smart-device / guest zones the page proposes, every link that would cross zones, and a heat grid of seven router settings. A metered check places every device in a zone, allows or blocks each cross-zone link and says how, lists the router changes and the steps in order, and gives a sound / split / lock-down verdict; the page redraws the plan from the check's placements and checks each one against the list. https://iot-island.skillsafe.ai/ ## What it does - Free, in the browser (netkit.js, display.js): reads one device a line ("Backyard camera | camera | Home | Family NAS"), pipe- or tab-separated, with or without a header row. Only the name is required; the kind is guessed from it (camera, doorbell, lock, TV, speaker, light, plug, sensor, hub, printer, console, appliance, storage, computer, phone, tablet, watch, work device, guest device). "Needs to reach" names other devices on the list. - Zones by kind: trusted (computers, phones, tablets, storage, watches), smart devices (everything smart, plus anything unrecognised - the cautious default) and guest & work (visitors and work-issued gear). - Today's networks: a network that carries trusted devices beside smart or guest ones is flagged as mixed. - Links: trusted reaching smart (casting, printing) is usually allowed one way; smart reaching into trusted, or anything crossing the guest zone, is flagged. - Router settings rated good / ok / change / critical / check: wireless security, admin password, WPS, UPnP, firmware, admin from the internet, whether it can make a second network. Its own verdict: lock down first (a critical setting), split it (a mixed network, a risky link or a setting worth changing) or sound. - Metered, one task `split`: a zone per device `{device, zone, says, why}`, a decision per cross-zone link `{from, to, decision, how, why}` (allow or block), router changes `{id, change_to, why}`, 3-7 ordered steps, caveats. - The page holds the reply to the list: every placement must name a device on the list and quote its line as written; devices the reply skips keep the page's zone; it warns when a crossing link has no decision, when a smart device is allowed into the trusted zone, when a camera, lock, light, plug, sensor or hub is kept in trusted, when a flagged setting is left out, and when the verdict ignores a critical setting. ## Limits - Everything comes from what was typed: this is not a scan of your network, and router menus differ by model. - The zones, link rules and setting ratings are rules of thumb from common home-network guidance. - Exports: Markdown (zones, settings, decisions, steps), a CSV device list for the evening you re-pair devices, and the map as SVG. ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skill @affaan-m/homelab-vlan-segmentation: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@affaan-m/homelab-vlan-segmentation - Why now: October is cybersecurity awareness month, and 2026 home-network guides recommend putting smart devices on a separate network, turning off WPS and UPnP and changing the default admin password: https://blog.flashrouters.com/2026/10/14/router-security-settings/ and https://www.nist.gov/blogs/taking-measure/7-tips-keep-your-smart-home-safer-and-more-private-nist-cybersecurity - API: https://iot-island.skillsafe.ai/api.html
